Macau New Technologies Incubator Centre

Macau New Technologies Incubator Centre (Manetic) is a full-service incubator providing opportunities for innovative individuals to develop new technologies and aiming to enhance Macau on scientific and technological development.  Manetic is located in the Macau Peninsula providing fully equipped office space along with a number of meeting rooms for conferences and meetings, office utilities room and leisure room.  With the strong support from Macau SAR Government and a number of major enterprises in Macau, Manetic has pragmatically carried out the implementation of incubation and supported technological enterprises in these 7 years since 2001, and to ensure that the potential technologies companies have been nurtured for Macau society.  Besides hardware support, such as office facilities and support to members of the incubation, Manetic also provides commercial services to incubatees, such as business development, market research, promotion and so on.  Thus the business and the concept of product will be developed into an independent commercial individual at a high speed.

           Regarding incubation, Manetic has received a total of over 100 applications for incubation, among which received over 50 applications became incubatees of Manetic in the past seven years.  In all approved incubatees, more than 20 companies, which are nearly equivalent to 50% of the incubation projects can be developed and enter commercialization stage, in which 6 companies, equivalent to 11%, have capably operated independently and created a sustainable business.

           At present, Manetic has a total of over 30 incubatees.  The services include information technology, environmental protection, bio-technology, design and consultancy, other new technologies and so on.  Regarding IT sector, it includes a variety of software products and development projects: such as the Convention and Exhibition Management System, Online Electronic Survey System, Voice Program package, Electronic Ticketing system and so on.  For environmental protection projects, it includes green lights art, environment-friendly fuel development, development for water supplies and drainage construction equipment and so on.  For research and development on bio-technology and other new technology, it covers research on refinement and segregation technology of traditional Chinese medicine, nanotechnology, research on health food and so on.  For project design and consultancy, it includes promotion and provision of professional consultancy services for enterprises in Greater China, Europe and Portuguese-speaking countries.  These over 30 incubatees possess more than a hundred employees along with more than 50 partners including local, the Mainland and international science and technologies, academic, research and commercial institutes.  Moreover the clients have amounted to almost 200 including local and Hong Kong Government Departments, local research institutes, telecommunications, tourism and gambling institutes, and so on.

           Aside from striving to promote local innovative technologies industry, Manetic also plays a role as the bridge to inject advanced knowledge and actively establish collaboration with the international IT companies in order to introduce more world's leading knowledgeable and experienced groups.  Apart from enhancing the standard of the local technologies, Manetic also establishes a broader communication and connection for incubatees to create business opportunities.  Thus, the iCentre (Information Technology Centre) has been set up in more than a year ago.  The iCentre is a multifunctional solutions support platform.  Manetic hopes to provide more collaboration for incubatees and brings a broader space for development of IT in Macau through iCentre, as well as introduction of the latest technology through seminars and trainings to enhance the standard of local technologies.  For provision of services to incubatees, Manetic will actively introduce overseas and the Mainland technologies and brand to this platform, iCentre, which will run-in with local companies and provide direct local support and services to end-users in order to upgrade the promotion, development, integration, support and presentation of the solutions.  Last year for example, Manetic organized a number of technical seminars and workshops with the international organizations such as "Intelligent Visual Surveillance System", "Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) Application Seminar", "Java 6 and Data Encryption Technology Seminar", "UML and ORM Application Seminar and Workshop", JBoss Development Platform and Red Hat Virtualization Seminar and Workshop", "How Virtualization Benefits Your Company in System Supporting Management, Production and System Development", "Data Operation, Efficiency and Managed Operation Services", and so on.

           Regarding environmental protection, Manetic has 8 existing environmental protection companies and some of which are service providers of Macau SAR Government and a number of major casinos, which are responsible for the provision of environmental friendly products and services to a number of major clients.  The development of green energy of clean fuels such as glycol ether was introduced to the local area.  Methanol petrol has already been used by Macau SAR Government Instituto para os assuntos civicos e municipais (IACM) with light vehicles and motorcycles to process the testing.  Last year, Manetic organized a number of technical seminars and conferences with international organizations such as "How Virtualization Benefits Your Company in System Supporting Management, Production and System Development", "Development on Oceanic Energy Seminar", "Eco-Computing Day", "Development of Clean Energy Seminar", and participated in the 2008 Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum & Exhibition (2008 MIECF).

           In addition to incubate the local environmental protection industry, Manetic also plays a role as the bridge to inject advanced environmental protection knowledge and actively plans and establishes collaboration with the Mainland and international environmental protection companies in order to introduce more world's leading knowledgeable and experienced groups.  Apart from enhancing the standard of the local technologies, Manetic also establishes a broader communication and connection for incubatees in order to create more business opportunities.  In view of this, Manetic established eCentre (Environmental Technology Centre) with keen determination as a multifunctional solutions support platform.  Manetic hopes to provide more collaboration for incubatees through eCentre and bring broader space for the development of environmental protection industry in Macau.  Furthermore, Manetic hopes to introduce the latest technology by holding seminars and trainings through eCentre to enhance the standard of the local technology.  For provision of services to incubatees, Manetic will actively introduce overseas and the Mainland technologies and brand to this platform, eCentre, and run-in with local companies to provide facilities of direct local support and services to end-users in order to upgrade the promotion, development, integration, support and presentation of the solutions.
